Who We Are

Hi there! We’re Garry Jeans Kitchens (GJK) - a local, family owned, and operated small business specialising in kitchen design and renovations. We’ve been operating in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Maitland areas for over 40 years - but wait a minute, those two don’t look that old!

That’s because we’re second-generation GJK!

I’m Garry’s son, Brenden, and this is my lovely wife, Claire.

My Dad taught me everything I know about building kitchens, and then I taught myself a whole lot too, including how to email quotes instead of faxing them.  So, whilst our business may appear old and somewhat uncool, we’re actually young, dynamic, and innovative (beyond fax and email), and we’re dedicated to making beautiful kitchens and cabinetry that last - just like my Dad.

If you’d like to know more about GJK, then keep reading! Otherwise, we’ll let you crack on with your day.

Our History

At Garry Jeans Kitchens (GJK), our journey is all about blending the old with the new. While we’re proud to carry on the craftsmanship and values passed down from Garry, we’re always embracing fresh ideas, new technologies, and the latest design trends. As a family business, we’re passionate about creating kitchens that are both beautiful and built to last, just like the relationships we’ve built with our customers over the years. With over 40 years of experience, we’re dedicated to delivering quality, care, and personal attention to every project. Whether you’re updating your space or starting from scratch, we’re here to help make your vision a reality.

How GJK started:

Garry and Kerrie Jeans established GJK in 1979. They set up shop in their double-garage and worked hard. Before long, they were winning more and more jobs and their best form of advertising became word-of mouth - owing to their friendly service and top-notch workmanship.

How GJK Progressed:

The years progressed and GJK went from strength to strength. Then in 2007, Garry and Kerrie’s son - Brenden - joined the family business. Brenden worked hard to learn the trade, complete his apprenticeship, and contribute to the family business.

How GJK Changed:

In 2014, Garry and Kerrie invited Brenden into the family-partnership and his responsibilities steadily increased. Then, in 2022, Brenden took over the family business with his wife, Claire – when after 43 years, Garry and Kerrie retired and passed them the reins.

How GJK Is Today:

Today, GJK is led by Brenden and Claire. They have a small, dedicated team including: Connor, Micaiah, Ben and Hannah - and Garry when they need him too. Together, they design, manufacture, and install every job from start to finish.
